The compliance committee recognizes the need to provide on-going training and educational programs to ensure that all employees have received current information on Federal and State statutes, regulations and guidelines and Private Industry Payer contractual requirements. General training sessions address various aspects of compliance with the Company's policies and procedures, along with laws, regulations and requirements of Federal, State and Private Industry Payers.
Training sessions cover items such as fraud and abuse statutes, coding requirements and claim submission process. Training is conducted at least annually and every employee signs and dates a statement reflecting the employee's knowledge of the topics discussed and commitment to the Code of Conduct. The attestation is maintained in the employee's personnel file. Attendance at these meetings is mandatory. The Corporate Compliance Office maintains a log of attendees at these training sessions, including a synopsis of materials presented.
Education is also provided through written materials, newsletters and staff meetings. Copies of insurance carrier manuals and bulletins are available for staff review. Additionally all coders need to accrue 18 CEU's (Continuing Education Units) during the year to maintain their CPC certification
As for our billers, they log in 4 Normalised Units every quarter to mark their attendance at lectures by a practicising oncologists, web-based trainers, conferences, client visits and sessions of Refresher training
In addition to in-service training processes, employee education is addressed through the following: |
